The Winter Wonderland theme comes with some really cool and fun activities. The booklet is full of fun activities like word searches, pictures to colour, stories to complete as well as fun facts and jokes. There are also instructions for each activity in the booklet. Everything you need comes in the activity packs apart from a few items you will already have like pencils, scissors etc.

Pop Up Penguins Craft

The first activity we chose to do was this fun and simple pop-up penguin craft. Male penguins find the smoothest, shiniest pebble and places it in a females nest as a ‘proposal’.

Making pop up penguins

This fun activity involved making 2 penguins that pop up, one presenting the other with a smooth, shiny white stone provided in the pack. We began by cutting out 2 penguin shapes, penguin feet & beaks. Then we stuck the feet on to the bottom of the penguins then made a paper spring as instructions and stuck the head down on to it. We then added the eyes and beaks.

This was a lovely, quick activity that only took 10 minutes and the girls loved making them!

Icy Tea light Holder

Next we made an Icy tea light holder, another really easy but satisfying activity! Using the balloon provided we filled it up with water and froze it for a few hours. We then cut the balloon off, broke a hole in the top, let out the water. We then lit the tea light and popped it inside which created a gorgeous effect!

Rocky Road Snow Bites

A quick and tasty activity like this onev is perfect at the weekend! We simple melted chocolate buttons, mixed in crushed biscuits and marshmallows, sprinkled with icing sugar and let them set in the fridge for half an hour.

Rocky road snow bites

We only managed to make two rocky road snow bites but they were delicious! We’ll be making these again ourselves with enough for everyone!

Salted Snowflake

Salted snowflakes

Making Salted snowflakes was quite fun but a little messy! We traded the snowflakes with a glitter glue pen, let it dry slightly, sprinkled it with salt then dropped watercolour paint onto it and let it dry. It created a gorgeous colourful, sparkly effect.

Weekend Box – Snazaroo Face Paints

Weekend Box have teamed up with Snazaroo and created a fantastic face paints box. Eva loves Weekend Boxes, you may remember she reviewed some boxes last year and had her photo featured on Facebook too! We love subscription boxes that keep us entertained over the weekend. Weekend Boxes are suitable for 4-9 years. This fabulous mini box is just £2.99!

Weekend Snazaroo Box

Of course Eva was extremely excited to discover a Weekend Box addressed to her this week and couldn’t wait to see what was inside and start having some creative fun!

Inside The Weekend Box

Weekend Box

Eva still loves the characters on the box and how it is packaged, she loves that she can open the box and read about the animals before finally discovering what’s actually inside the box. She remember the cute woodland characters from last year and loves Hattie the Hedgehog.

Weekend Box Snazaroo

Snazaroo Face Paints!

As you can see Eva was really excited to discover her Weekend Box had Snazaroo face paints inside! Snazaroo face paints are suitable from 3 years. They are so easy to use, just add water, even Izzy joined in and had a go. Snazaroo face paints are made in the UK, they are skin friendly, fragrance and paraben free and are formulated from premium cosmetic ingredients to be gentle on skin. We all have sensitive skin, cheap face paints causes rashes but we have no problems at all with Snazaroo face paints.

With 2 fun Snazaroo face painting kits to use Eva couldn’t wait to start using them. Eva loved the Birthday party face paint stamp kit. She especially loved the cupcake and face stamps so we started with those.

Cupcake Face Paint

We tried out the mini face paint kit next and decided to follow the directions on the box to see if it was as simple as it looks. We need a little more practice but Eva loved the end result! The 3 step guide was so easy to follow and Snazaroo have more guides online.

The Snazaroo Weekend Box is so much fun and something we can use again. You can invite some friends round & paint all their faces as there is plenty of paint in those kits! This is definitely something we would recommend as it kept us busy for quite some time. Of course we then had 2 clowns running around causing havoc in the flat haha!

Because Snazaroo face paints are water based they are so easy to clean off. Using wet wipes we had clean faces again in minutes! We love the mini kit so much! There are five vibrant themes available – Summer, Carnival, Halloween, Christmas and Easter. The colourful summer packs include a fun Festive Mask (made up of bright pink, white and royal blue) and a Jester (featuring grass green, white and purple).

Replanting Eva’s Weekend Box rain forest

Eva’s rain forest she planted from her first Weekend box grew quite well although only 2 seeds cracked (admittedly Eva did bury the other’s quite far down!) and Eva decided she wanted to split them and pot them up.

The Mr bought a 10ltr block of coco potting soil from one of the pound shops since the plants were already planted in coco and let both girls help.

replanting rain forest

Eva read the instructions on the soil and the Mr helped them soak it in the bag it came in after they had a feel of the dry block of coco soil. The girls were really impressed by just how much the small block had grown after adding water!

Both girls had a feel of the soil again once it was wet and then helped break it all up to put into the pots. Izzy seemed to know what she was doing and started filling her pot up with soil whilst they were still breaking it up haha!

The girls really enjoyed re-potting the plants and can’t wait to see how big they grow now!

Are you growing a mini rain forest too? If so how did your’s get on? If not then dont forget to visit our original weekend box post and find my promo code to get yourself one free too!
